"Hi Terrie,
I wanted to share with you pictures of the quilt I made after taking your crayon class in the spring of 2015 when you were in Folsom, CA. I waited this long to send a picture because I wanted to see how the quilt was judged in the Folsom Quilt and Fiber Guild show. Turns out I won second place in the Emma Allesbes Art Quilt Challenge category. This is the first quilt I have ever had judged. I am really pleased. The quilt is 25" wide and 20" high and is called Tom's Beer Can Chicken. The "wall" and "counter" are my background fabrics. All the rest of the elements are the crayon colored applique pieces I made.
Last year the guild announced the quilt challenge for the 2016 show. The quilt was to be related to food and have a 3D element included on the quilt. I knew immediately I wanted to do a quilt of a beer can chicken picture that my husband took years ago. Crayon coloring was perfect for this quilt. The 3D part of the quilt is a recipe for beer can chicken hanging in the upper left corner. I do not consider myself an artist, but you class made this quilt possible. Thank you for your technique. It helped me win my first ribbon."
